Neighborhood Watch

Over the past couple of months, several of our neighbors have been active coordinating a Neighborhood Watch program with the support of the Apex Police Department.

The Apex Police Department Neighborhood Watch program focuses on each of us getting to knowing our neighbors and reporting when things are outside of the norm. They have suggested a three-step plan with key requirements to get a neighborhood watch going.

Step 1 – Talk to your neighbors to establish a need and boundaries to be watched. This has been done.
Step 2 – Contact your local law enforcement agency, discuss boundaries and obtain guidelines. This has been done.
Step 3 – Set up a meeting, invite a law enforcement officer, select block captains, recruit everyone to participate and begin. We have had Apex’s Neighborhood Watch Officer to our Board meeting. Several Block Captains have volunteered.

Key requirements – The group must meet regularly and communicate progress to the Apex Police Department to be considered an active Neighborhood Watch Program.
If you would like to be an area or block captain, contact the Neighborhood Watch coordinator.
