How do I get our new home’s utilities turned on?
The town of Apex's Utilities and Finance Department handles electricity, sewer and water services on their Request for Service page. You will also find a link explaining NC GreenPower which is a non-profit organization tasked by the N.C. Utilities Commission to encourage use of renewable energy sources.

Natural gas is provided by PSNC.

When is trash picked up?
For Haddon Place, trash pick-up is on Fridays. For the rest of Haddon Hall, Tuesday is trash day. Click through to Apex's Public Works Trash & Recycling Routes Look-Up  page to find your day.

The Town of Apex provides one large trash container and one recycling bin. Make sure your trash is on the curb early on your trash day and pull the bins out of sight by that evening. The City of Apex will pick up flattened moving boxes for new residents. Just fill out this form found on the Public Works menu of the Town of Apex’s website.
 

 Where do Haddon Hall kids attend public schools?
Wake County Public School System provides public education to kids in Haddon Hall. You can get more information on their Newcomer's Page.
 

Salem Elementary and Baucom Elementary are the base schools for K-5 students, Apex Middle and Salem Middle Schools are the middle schools for our neighborhood and 9-12 grade students attend Apex High School. The elementary and middle schools are on a year ‘round track system, while the high school is on a traditional schedule. Link to their calendar page to find your schools schedule.
 

What is the homeowners’ assessment and how is it paid?
The 2008 monthly assessment is $35.00. Homeowners receive a coupon book and envelopes unless they have set up automatic draft. Payments are due at the first of the month and a late fee is assessed when the fees are late. Payments are sent to HRW.

What is the lawn irrigation policy for Apex?
The region is suffering through a long drought. Water restrictions have been put into place by the town of Apex. Apex's water restrictions are posted on the town’s web site:

Beginning April 1, 2008, Town of Apex water customers will be able to irrigate lawns and/or landscapes three days a week according to the following schedule:
   • Addresses ending with 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 - Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays
   • Addresses ending with 2, 4, 6, 8, 0 - Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays
Lawn irrigation will not be allowed on Mondays. Hand held hose watering is allowed everyday. 
 

My mailbox needs to be replaced. What do the Haddon Hall covenants require?
Haddon Hall homes are required to have “like” mailboxes, meaning black, medium (1.5) size, gold numbers and bands on a black post. Anything other than that requires an architectural request application and approval from the architectural review committee.

There are at least two local vendors that carry mailboxes that fit the specs of the Haddon Hall covenants: Rodney’s Custom Cut Sign Company in Holly Springs (919-362-9669) and Posts and Pickets of Raleigh (919-772-7170). Each recommends the following two boxes for Haddon Hall residents:
• The Gilbraltar 1.5 is a replacement for the Fulton mailbox that was installed when Haddon Hall was first built. Rodney’s considers this a big improvement from the original and has received no complaints in the eight months it's been stocked. (They report that the Fulton box typically started rusting after three months.) The Gibraltar has a car paint finish that increases its durability.
• The Janzer Stoney Brae is the upgraded mailbox that many residents of Haddon Hall already have. It also has a car paint finish and the manufacturer suggests waxing the mailbox once a year with car wax to protest the finish.

Be sure your new mailbox includes gold bands (You may be able to reuse the ones on your mailbox now) and gold numbers.
Lowe’s and Home Depot may have similar, acceptable mailboxes.

I’d like to make some changes to the outside of my house and/or landscaping. What’s the procedure?
You’ll need to apply for and get approval of any major changes in the outside of your home or landscaping. An application can be downloaded here and then sent to HRW. HRW checks that the application is complete and then sends it to The Haddon Hall Architectural Review Committee, which has 60 days to consider it. The committee checks each application to verify that it meet the standards set in the covenants and guidelines of Haddon Hall.
Carefully read the covenants and guidelines before starting any major project. Some, including decks and additions, will require town of Apex approval, as well.

Why do my neighbors have sign off to approve my improvements? 
They don’t. That is a common misconception. The architectural request form requires the signatures of neighbors to indicate that the homeowner submitting the request has made his neighbors aware of the proposed improvements. Neighbors may present their concerns to the Architectural Review Committee.

How do I gain access to the pool and tennis courts?
Haddon Hall uses a key fob system to secure and regulate access the swimming pool and tennis courts. The gate to each of these areas is secured by a lock with a passive infrared sensor. When the key fob is passed in front to the sensor, the gate will unlock.
Homeowners who are in arrears in their assessments may have their key fob deactivated. Homeowners who misuse the recreational facilities may have their key fob deactivated as well. Please review the rules of the tennis courts and the pool before using these neighborhood amenities.

Contact HRW if you need a key fob or have lost yours. Replacements are available for $15.00.
 

How do I rent the Haddon Hall clubhouse?
The clubhouse is available for Haddon Hall residents to rent for personal or business events. The new rental agreement can be downloaded here. A deposit is required. Arrangements and payments are made through HRW.
 

When the clubhouse is rented, the key fob system is programmed to allow the homeowner access to the clubhouse during the agreed upon time. The homeowner is responsible for adhering to the terms of the rental contract which includes cleaning the clubhouse within the rental period.
 

Prior to rental, the homeowner is responsible for arranging a post-event inspection time with the Board member on call (HRW will provide contact information). Failure to adhere to the terms of the contract may cause the forfeiture of some or all of the rental deposit.

The town of Apex enforces the noise ordinance that covers that common complaint. Call the Apex Police Department's non-emergency number--- 919-362-8661.
